After all all ego play is just that , is it not?
I disagree. The political systems does play a very important role in maintaining a safe and productive society, even though it doesn’t always seem that way. Many of the egos we see are a product of the system they have to fight their way through in order to make a difference. True, some people want to be in politics just for self-gratification, but that’s not the point of politics, itself.

Well politics is a product of humans so ego is always involved. However I would say that some politicians do start out with ideals of changing the world. That changes once they enter office.
