I like this question cuz for years i’ve been saying i’d love to see phil jackson coach a mediocre roster. Yes he’s a great coach, but so is my favorite and underrated coach Mike Fratello. And if Jackson had to coach the players that Fratello had, not only would he not have rings, but he would be no more successful than Mike. I give credit where its due but Jax doesnt belong in the conversation with Red Auerbach and Lenny Wilkens.

No. It’s not like Phil Jackson ever won a championship without having great players. To be realistic, we just will probably never know. He had who he had, he won with who he had, and Tex Winter was the mastermind behind that offense. It doesn’t matter, he’s still a great coach.

Goes the same for any coach. Great coaches have great players. name one who didnt? So yeah, we’d still know who he is because he would have made someone else great…

So you’re basically saying if Phil Jackson didn’t have everything that won him championships, would we know who he is? No. We wouldn’t. We wouldn’t know who any coach is if they don’t succeed.

i would say no,because all of phils fame came from working with guys like winter,kobe,pippen,shaq,jordan
phil worked with the some of the best players of nba history
but stil all coaches are represented by the players they work with and phil somehow got to work with all of them
