What's wrong with killing Moby Dick?
Why shouldn’t Ahab "pile upon the whale’s white hump the sum of all the general rage and hate felt by his whole race from Adam down?"
What’s wrong with the logic of Star Trek’s Khan, Shakespeare’s Shylock, or Melville’s Captain Ahab?
If they’ve been unjustly brutalized, why shouldn’t they strike back? If someone, or something, has, for no reason, proven himself, herself, or itself your enemy, why shouldn’t you retaliate with that mind?
Why shouldn’t these people "stab at thee" from "hell’s heart?"
Or, why should they?
its inhumane i guess. not rite 2 kill animals and stuff. idk i havent read the book i just kno the storyline and such but i think they shoodv damaged it and got away i guess. its an old book who knows wat they wer thinking. its not rite 2 fite i guess.lets see. if…lets say theres a chinchilla in the mountains that its just reserved forest, and a human goes up in there 2 camp and the chinchilla feels like they r invading and r gnna harm them so it jumps on them and bites them…the people shouldnt kill it cuz it invaded their territory and wuz damaging its enviornment and home. so i guess its pretty fair…the more that u think of it..altho the animals dnt own the sea but killing them will get them insticnt and get ppl mand and its not rlly rite…so i guess that it wuz wrong 2 kill or damage him cuz idk if they wer fishing or what they wer taking away and damaging its home so i guess its humane enough and civil enough.so hopefully this helps u!

it isn’t so much that it is "wrong" to kill moby dick…the story is saying that becoming obsessed with revenge is a bad thing…that revenge hurts you as much as it hurts those upon whom you would take revenge…
there is a saying, "Revenge is like you taking poison and expecting the other guy to die."
in moby dick, the captain’s need for revenge ends up with his death, the sinking of his ship and the deaths of all his crew except one…and moby dick goes free…
in khan, the same is true…he dies, he loses his ship and his crew dies…and kirk goes free…
i agree that there is some motivation for khan and shylock…and ahab to a degree…it is difficult not to want revenge…it often feels "sweet"…and it often feels as if we are justified in taking our "pound of flesh"…no one can tell you whether or not to follow your emotions and seek revenge…you have to make that decision for yourself…
but whether you agree or disagree…these are precautionary tales…warning against the harm that can come when a person is obsessed with revenge…and i think it is harmful to seek revenge…not right or wrong…just harmful…to you…and to others around you…and the authors would say that obsession with revenge borders on insanity…
