Alexander who is the quirky runway coach on America’s Next Top fashion trends Model. And it seems like everywhere I go, I run into one or more of the NY Housewives! (Maybe this is a good omen for me!) Seated across from us were Bethany Frankel, the Countess (LuAnn de Lesseps) and Kelly Bensimon. The first thing I noticed was how tallllllll they all were too! (As you can see from the photo, I look like I’m standing in a hole next to them….)

Then the lights went out and Pamella’s show began. I have one word for the Jessica Gomes fashions -WOW!! It seemed like every look brought the crowd to their feet–it was beyond thrilling! From daytime to evening, there was some sense of drama in every outfit and I wanted them ALL! At the end of the show Pamella brought her darling children up on stage for the runway walk….it was magic time!

The rest of the week in NY wasn’t too shabby either! We went to the Waverly Inn for dinner (Graydon Carter’s charming SoHo restaurant) and Elle MacPherson was there…at Cipriani Downtown, Lebron James (the massive forward for the Cleveland Cavaliers) was there and at Maria Pinto’s dramatic installation in the Meat Packing District they were waiting for Gayle King to arrive. Katie Couric had given Maria a great plug on CBS so everyone was very happy! What a wonderful time in the city that never sleeps!

We were so thrilled to see Jessica Gomes Pamella’s 2010 Spring Show AND the BEST part is you can see this same show on Friday, Sept, 25th at the Joffrey’s “Couture & Cocktails” event at the Palmer House! If you haven’t bought a ticket yet, there is still time! Her moment of epiphany came when “I couldn’t walk another step without being exhausted, or having hair clumps photo gallery falling out.” She knew she needed to live in the body she was supposed to have — specifically a curvy size 12.

In a new memoir “Hungry,” Renn, now a mature modeling, exposes her struggles with weight, health and self-esteem, fueled by the industry she says she still loves. That is, she loves it now that she has been accepted — even embraced — by the fashion world.

“I got to my lowest point, when I couldn’t go lower, and it was either, ‘I’m going to die and not accomplish the dream,’ or, ‘I can become a fitness modeling and keep the dream,’ ” she said. “I am healthy now, the healthiest I’ve ever been in my life — both physically and mentally.

Writing “Hungry” with Marjorie Ingall for Simon & Schuster was an important part of the healing process, said Renn, 23. Renn’s agent, Gary Dakin, of New York’s Ford Models, which represents models photo gallery who are UK size 12 to 22, says that their novelty use is coming to an end. Instead they will be photographed for one simple reason: because they are beautiful.

“I have been in this business for 11 years and I have seen this debate ripple through the fashion world a number of times,” he said. “This time, though, the momentum of the healthcare debate feels different.” Style arbiter Stephen Bayley agrees. Bayley’s book, Women as Design, is published this week and looks at how definitions of female beauty have changed over the centuries. “In periods when we are impoverished, as now, there is a vogue for voluptuous women,” he said. ”

But designers are, slowly, beginning to agree that larger mature modeling have a role. Antonio Berardi has talked of the trouble he has finding girls with a womanly shape. “We have to spend days altering things,” he complained. “We add padding and pieces that work inside the clothes to exaggerate their bodies into a more female form. I don’t want all those girls with pale skin who look the same. My family is Italian – I am inspired by a womanly aesthetic.”

Roland Mouret agrees: “I see fitness modeling advertising going back to that powerful 1980s mentality, when girls like Linda [Evangelista] were ideal. Back in the 80s, when supermodels were several sizes larger than top models today, the clothes worked on bigger bodies,” he added. “They were bright, bold, curve-enhancing.”

They made a party of it Thursday on Lifetime, celebrating the actress return of “Project Runway” with a one hour episode that was mostly entertaining aside from the incessant commercial breaks.

To that it added a two hour special involving past contestants and an interesting new post-show called “Models of the Runway,” in which the women who heretofore just actress modeled the work of the “Project Runway” contestants now emerged as their own characters, cheering on (or razzing) their assigned designer, living together in a big house and eventually being catty about one another.

When their designer goes, they go too, so there’s that sense of weekly elimination drama that fuels so many reality talent agency shows. “Models of the Runway” serves as a better alternative to an “after-show” but fulfills some of those same needs:

The models all get to react to what had just happened on the mother show and its elimination and then fashion trends figure out how it will all impact them. (For this reason, you can’t watch “Models” before the actual show; it’d be like watching a post-show analysis before watching a game).

We also get to see a glimpse into the next fashion trends week’s show as the designers choose which models they’ll get to work with the next week (a trend already: those who succeed to the following week generally stick to the same girl — not out of superstition but because they’ve already gotten to know the body type and strengths). Best of all, it’s only a half hour, which I hope starts a new trend in reality shows.

The triple play meant not only the biggest season premiere for “Project Runway” in its history (which has heretofore been on Bravo), but it was also the biggest audience to date for everything fitness on Lifetime. Averaging more than 4.2 million total viewers, it was the highest rated compeittion reality series premiere on cable this year.

Which may make talent agency think of putting nine months before next season. But I doubt it.
