TAFE NSW staff have been bullying, discriminating and harassing me. Can you tell me your TAFE horror stories?
I want to have other people’s experiences, and others to pass the word about the TAFE system’s failure to follow their own codes of conduct.
I have disabilities, twice the age of other classmates, have aboriginal background, and female. What hope did I have with a teacher bullying me in the class and elsewhere.
I made no headway with him when I voiced my displeasure about teacher 1’s conduct, so I reported that he was doing these things.
Teacher 2 did nothing. So I reported it in draft to the Campus director, (3) who knew I was to write my draft up better in a few days and submit it. I was alarmed when he had a history of several years of my study records-spotless- infront of hjim, as if he had searched for weapons to be used at me, but I ignored this invasion of privacy. The next day, I was suspended from TAFE, and reinstituted later.
He immediately….the day of the draft, submitted it to an unknown faculty director (4) who decided on the spot (because she was going for holidays that next day, to sweep it under the carpet. Dismiss it. On a letter dated the same day as my visit to person 3, it stated that she "thoroughly investigated" and dismissed my complaints. I did not get this letter until I went to apologise for not getting the draft completed into a final yet, a few days later. She was on holidays, and never seen . That night though, information identifying my home phone number- only available at ATFE- not a soul anywhere had my silent number, listed under a different surname, and a recent listing at that—- well, the mystrery voice did the intimidating and asked whether I had an affair with bully 1. Off course not. There was never scandal about me, and it was his conduct with another teenage student which is the likely reason why he showed off by h umiliating me….cut me down to build himself up to flirt with miss half his age, and cheat on his wife. Nothing to do with class content and I shoulfd never known about their "cute" attraction for each other. I was there to learn the subjects.

I phoned the institute’s associate director (5) twice, a couple of weeks apart, but she had no time to see me, her secretary said. I tried to communicate my dis-satisfaction to both person 3, and now 5, and neither were interested.
I was now concerned for 3 reasons: the original complaint, the lack of educational opprotiunities I had a right to, and now a corrupt TAFE system.
I finally wrote to the institute director (6) and said I had some matter of great importance to speak with him about, please don’t pass the buck, because I had tried everyione else.
The phone rang. He had passed the buck anyhow, and person 5,who had no earlier interest in responding to me previouisly, was instructed by "dont pass the buck" 6, to speak with me.
Again, I meet. She had a file on me too. No one gives me a file on their personal history! She even accused me of saying the types of things the anonymous caller made to me. Person 7 was called upon to organise "private" lessons, which did not happen really….and with the betraying person 2 anyhow, who had no credibility by then.
She bullied me into doing lots more work than any class student would have needed to do even though they were at the start of their course, and I had nearly finished the course even before I enrolled, as I had prior learning. If I complained about the workload, she would increase it. Then, by email, I received something odd, which made me extra curious. Emails to me, were also addressed to other people…no privacy here. One,had nothing to do with TAFE or me. I was her joke.
I provided evidence that I had already completed most of the course, with about 14 subjects done, of the necessary 10….but still requiring 3 particular ones. Person 2 knew this a year before I enrolled in the course, and had signed documents recognising this before I met her bullying male mate, teacher 1. Things seem to change when "a favourite" person is accused. Apparently, TAFE blood is thicker than students’.
Anyhow, I complained about miosconduct to the MINISTER FOR EDUCATION, 8, who has been useless. What corruption under her rule!, I suppose that’s the reason. Infact, I doubt she knows anything about it. The hired help in her office decided everything. They pressed "sent" to person 9, Director of TAFE NSW. Now person 9, had never done the courtesy of re[plying to me when I had enquired of her, either, but will jump for others. (In my list of complaints about person 1, social discrimination and rinsult about a person’s social class was in the list of complaints too) . The minister’s office did not write her own letter, editing what was for her, what was for usse in the complaint.
Person 9 coluded with person 5. Now, the pair, having been exposed, decided to get back at me. I was bullied again about the content of info’ sent to the minister, and I wrote to the minister and complained about the breech of confidentiality: ina
Mostly a good idea, ASH. I use library internet (usually at that TAFE-but now they have suspended me, I have to use a public library). I don’t get access to those sites…..Miracle I get access to this one. "Educational purposes only" libraries seenm to allow.
Nothing to stop horrified readers to express an opinion to the minister for education NSW- email on her website.
Yes, they have suspended me because I expressed anger at 8 months of constant bullying, including haraassing phone calls, etc.
I dish out to them what I have learned from them, and they can’t take their own medicine.
