I’ve been using this little oven for 3 years now and I think it’s great. I cook toast in it, bake fish, reheat left overs, make cookies, cook chicken and generally anything I can fit in it. I have found it very handy and end up not using the big oven very often. It cleans up easy, it’s useful, it looks good and I would recommend it to anyone. We got ours on sale at Macy’s for $50 three years ago, so be sure to look around for a good deal.

We bought this toaster oven last year after our wedding. Admittedly, it wasn’t an informed purchase, but rather we decided on it after looking at other models that were available in BB&B.
Long story short: It’s awful.
It works “OK” as an oven when reheating things like pizza or fries. However it falls shortest at toasting. First of all it takes forever to warm up, and then the coils shut off a couple minutes BEFORE the timer runs out. This makes precision toasting nothing short of impossible. The color coding on the timer dial which is supposed to correspond with the darkness of the bread is completely irrelevant to what actual happens. Needless to say, “set it and forget it” does not apply to this appliance. Toasting requires more babysitting than a toddler in a crocodile farm.
If I had to pick out good points…it looks really nice and the build quality feels solid. The crumb tray slides in and out easily and is easy to clean. Unfortunately, I am very much a function before form person (especially when paying this much for a toaster oven) so I cannot even muster an extra star for the positives.
Stick to mixers KA…leave the toasting to others.

I bought this oven because I wanted to upgrade the old Black and Decker that we had. It looked good: famous brand, stainless steel, sturdy, what could go wrong?? My first impression was that it didn’t heat as fast as the old B&D (which for just toasting bred is annoying). I will not repeat some of the other flaws already mentioned in other reviews. To be brief:
1st unit -> After 7 months it stopped working, no power light!
2nd unit -> The timer kept going directly to zero
3rd unit -> The power light went dead again…
The one positive thing is that Kitchen Aid has replaced the oven each time very quickly, so great customer service. I’m pretty sure I’ll get the 4th unit soon but this time I’m selling it for cheap on craigslist or giving it away!
This oven is just about looks but there’s nothing inside (nice shape but no brains). It’s not a serious oven to bake anything (quiche, cake, etc…) even when it works!
My recommendation: If you’re looking for an oven for simple tasks (toast bread, reheat dishes) I would go with something smaller such as Black & Decker CTO6301 6-Slice Convection Toast-R-Oven, Stainless Steel. And if you’re looking for a real oven that can actually cook pizza, quiches, pies, etc, then spend more money and get a Breville BOV800XL The Smart Oven 1800-Watt Convection Toaster Oven with Element IQ!

Bought this to be able to toast 6 slices of bread at a time,Most bread is too large to fit six slices in. I still enjoyed the oven for toasting up a sandwich and such, however, I only got to use the oven for about a year. Like so many other complaints, mine too is dead. No power lights or anything. I am a handy with doing my own repairs and have not been able to locate ANY parts for this. None of the part suppliers stock any parts for these.$130.00 for a year’s use is pathetic. Prior to it dying, the timer knob broke off in my hand.It looks great, but looks aint everything! This one is going in the trash and I’m looking for another brand.Do yourself a favor and google this model number for reviews, I wish I would have,I would have saved $130!

The top heating implement stopped working 15 months after purchase, just in time for the 1 year warranty to expire. Customer Service at Kitchenaid only handles replacement of the whole unit, not parts, so repairing the thing isnt possible. This was an overpriced, no-frills unit capitalizing on its trusted brand name. Big disappointment.
