watched a dvd last night before i went clubbing called "monster in law" with jlo and jane fonda. i never really liked jho, i mean jlo but she actually looked pretty in that movie. i didnt like the way they skipped over the romance part of it but i guess the main focus was to be on jlo and jane fonda's relationship. they had that black comedian as jane fonda's personal assistant. can't recall her name now but she was pretty funny. oh yeah.. now i remember... wanda sikes (spelling?) some of the things that jlo and jane fonda does to each other was pretty funny. all in all a decent movie but nothing spectacular. i remember when jane fonda was like a workout queen. she still looks decent in that movie but looked a little bit saggy in some parts. then again she's prolly pretty close to 70 so i guess she didnt look bad for her age. jlo... what can i say.... at times she looks so beautiful. maybe she's mellowing out now since she's married or something.
here's the review if anyone's interested: As an esteemed television journalist put out to pasture by the networks and faced with the engagement of her son, Jane Fonda is fierce, funny, and ready to rumble as the title character in Monster-in-Law in a way that the rest of the film itself never really is. Jennifer Lopez, the film's other above-the-title star, is set to marry handsome, wealthy Michael Vartan but has one helluva time dealing with his insanely possessive mother. The result is pretty much what you'd expect--lots of snarls and slapstick and an easy, kisses-all-around conclusion, though it is surprising (and maybe a little disheartening) to watch Fonda throw herself into such disposable comedy with such gusto. Director Robert Luketic, who slept while Reese Witherspoon tottered off with his Legally Blonde, once again relies solely on the assembled talent: He leaves a high-wattage Lopez playing things a little too cute, a reedy Vartan looking visibly disinterested, and canny comedian Wanda Sykes making what she can--which, luckily, is a lot--of her role as Fonda's wisecracking personal assistant (the type of black sidekick role that's an indication of how creakily formulaic the film is). See it for Fonda, if you feel like it, then wish her a better engagement in the future. --Steve Wiecking tried calling alexandra but i guess that she's not home. wayyyy too expensive to keep on trying. sigh.... really wanted to talk to her. got 2 more fone cards and guess i'll try later again. thinking back to a huge street party alexandra and i attended in budapest. they had a dance bus and literally thousands of peeps were in the street dancing to techno. such a great time we had.
small note: forgot to wish michelle wie a belated happy birfday. she's playing in the samsung open at bighorn golf course this weekend. grace park is doing well in the tournament, but michelle is struggling a lil bit. shout outs to my korean peeps out there who's supporting these 2. well... i think there's like 4 or 5 korean chicks in the tournament. ooooh... i forgot to mention the LA angels are playing the chicago white soxs. either way i win cause i really dig both teams. astros and cardinals are also going at it. like.... who kares... i hope the white soxs take it this year. chicago is another city i've always wanted to live in.
