why do we keep poisoning our own world like this? I just got through reading about the chemical spill that's travelling down the Amur River in Russia from China. the chemical slick is about 110 miles long. 100 tons of benzene, nitrobenzene and other toxins spilled from a Chinese factory. supposedly the chemicals are heavier than water so is gonna settle to the bottom of the river as it moves. i can't even comprehend the impact its gonna have on everyone that lives along that river. fishing is to be banned from the river for up to 2 years. i think u wont be able to eat anything from that river for a much longer time. the toxins are gonna work its way into the ecosystem until everything is affected over there. fish eats the poison. people, bears, hawks, wolves, etc. eat the fish. we drink the water. we water crops with the water. we eat the crops grown with the poisoned water. i understand that it is more convenient to build that kind of factory along a major river but why even take a chance when something like this can happen at any time. closed minded thinking like this is gonna get us all killed.
