I Have a Tendency to Make Myself Laugh | |
Just Like Jesus I'm Not Dead!Well I’m back. Wow things have really started to get quite busy for me. Firstly I was running around all last week so I didn’t have a chance to write. Then I went to Portland on Thursday and Friday with Vincent so he could meet my family. Then Saturday and Sunday were parties and church… and yesterday… well yesterday I stapled. So I guess I’ll just update you with this past Thursday thru Monday. Sounds good? Great, here we go!
Thursday: I had to wake up super early because Vincent was coming to get me at 6:30am. So I got up around 5:30 just to get ready and make sure I had everything I needed. Once he got there we immediately set out to the south side! It was great to spend so much time with him. We stopped at Denny’s about half way down there. It was fun and kind of a Parker tradition so it was great to share that with him. Even though we found a hair in my food that was obviously not ours and not from a head… yeah. So then after Denny’s we continued to head south only stopping when we were pulled over by the po pos. Yup we got pulled over. In Vincent’s defense we both didn’t see the speed limit change from 70 to 60. It was honestly the grace of God that one of us didn’t get a ticket. Because he was speeding and I had no proof that I owned the car (I need to get in touch we Keane and get the title to X cuz that’s just not right)! After about an hour we finally made it to my grandma’s place. It was great to see her. She was going through a pretty hard time last time I saw her and her memory was really bad. She is now doing so much better. She still had some memory problems but not nearly as bad as they were around Christmas. Side Note: I remember the last time I went down to see her (the week after Christmas 05) everyone was saying that they thought she was going to die in a few weeks. I knew that it was not her time yet and I really wanted her to see me get married. I cried out to God and asked Him to give her more time and here she is alive and decently healthy today! That will just show you what faith in God can do. If you believe something and it is according to God’s word and His will then there is nothing that anyone can say that can change that. So a little side sermon here: if there is anything going on in your life that you desire to be different. All it takes is a pure heart, praise on your lips and a cry out to God and if He agrees with you it shall be done! Back to Thursday: So we reach my Grandma’s house and talk with her for about an hour. It was good to see her and just talk. After talking for a bit we both head to the couch to rest. Really we wanted to nap… well Vincent took a nap and I wanted to nap. I hate it. Sometimes no matter how hard I try I can’t nap! I was completely exhausted and yet I still couldn’t close my eyes for more than five minutes. So I decided to put in a movie while he slept. I watched The Kid a Bruce Willis comedy which was decent. Eventually Vincent woke up and my aunt Jenny came home. It was great to see her (she’s by far my favorite aunt in the whole world)! We (my aunt, Vincent and I) went out to a burger place and had lunch. It was great for Vincent and my aunt to meet. I knew that they would hit it off (mainly because they are both so goofy… regardless of whether or not they liked each other I would be entertained). Thankfully they both hit it off and we had a great lunch. After lunch we picked up some groceries and then headed back to Grammies place! We hung out there for a bit watching court shows and chatting until around 6 when we went out to Applebees to introduce Vincent to “The Family”. Without going into way to much detail with will undoubtedly bore you to tears I will simply say that everybody loved Vincent (how could they not) and dinner was quite enjoyable. It was great to see people who I hadn’t seen in years and it was also great to eat for free (you got to love family). After dinner we went home and played Yahtzee with Grammies. I won once and got the first Yahtzee. The other scores don’t matter too much really… just know that I got the first Yahtzee! Then we went off to sleep.
Friday: I got to sleep in a bit. Vincent came knocking on my door around 8:30 and woke me up to pray. Afterward we just got ready. The rest of our time there was spent just relaxing. Which I’m sure to all of you sounds boring but it is heaven when you don’t ever have full days off! After resting and chatting for a while we finally said goodbye and headed back home. We again stopped at Denny’s this time for dessert (there was not hair of any kind) and finally got home around 8:30. We hung out at the dorm for a bit, puzzled, watched Coach Carter and went home. It was a really relaxing 48 hours with a whole lot of driving! Saturday: Saturday was a busy day. I took the day off and didn’t do Adopt-A-Block because I had to find a dress for Julia’s (I cant spell it so I’ll say it in English) 15th birthday party. I was her maid of honor and I had yet to find a dress for the occasion. I finally found one (and it was only $20 praise God) and I also found a track to the song I wanted to sing. It was truly God because that song was a fairly new song and I wasn’t too positive that they would have it. The rest of the day was spent getting ready, learning the song and waiting. When the party finally came around it was really fun. My brother danced in it… and not the silly Wiley dance but he actually Waltzed and danced the salsa. I sang “Be Blessed” by Yolanda Adams and totally messed up the words on the first verse. Of course that’s all I can focus on even though the rest of the song went really well. Then at the end there was salsa dancing. I won’t go into how I wanted to dance but Vincent didn’t and how we left early (although I wasn’t mad about leaving early because I had been there for 8 hours already). So we left and finished watching Coach Carter (cuz we didn’t finish it the night before). After the movie I went home (at a decent hour because it was a Saturday night).
Sunday: Sunday was great! I woke up on time and energized (which is rare for me) and got ready and out the door earlier than usual. My voice was a bit tired but mic check went well. Vincent talked to the sound guys who have (I think) been confused about how to turn me up. So I finally got some volume in my monitors! Mic check went amazing and I was really excited to worship! Prayer was great and Christian education was too. Then it was time for praise and worship. Our choir probably sounded the best they’ve ever sounded. I was so proud of everyone! They were strong, confident and anointed! People really received especially when Mr. Weaver came up to minister. It’s great when you see new people come up and step out in what God has called them to do. He ministered in such as way that it didn’t feel foreign or out of place. Rather as he ministered he spoke in a way that made him sound like he was at home. I don’t know how to describe it other than it was apparent to me by they way that he ministered that SIC is where God has him to be right now. Bishop’s word was powerful and it was probably the shortest word he’s ever preached on a Sunday morning. He taught again on “Designed to Prosper” though a lot of what he was teaching was very foundational a lot of people were receiving it. What I love about where our church is at right now is that we are going back to basics. If we have a strong foundation than we can build higher! It’s just a good time for our church! Then after church Vincent and I had lunch before he went off to work. I went home and changed and went to the Simmons’ house for Shash’s birthday party (yup two in a row). The party was fun I got to hang out after ward with the family which was nice. We watched Zathura (I think that’s how you spell it) and had dinner. I love the Simmons. They just know how to make you feel like part of the family. Vincent called me while I was eating dinner to say that he wanted to see me (it was sweet). So I hopped in my car and took off to Edmonds where we met up and had McDonalds and hung out for a bit. Because come Monday it was back to the real world of school and work. Monday: I walked in my office only to find it was dun dun DUN! Staple day… yuck. So yeah I spent my whole day with a stapler in my hands thus prohibiting me to blog for you! My whole day was pretty blah until I got a knock on my office door. It was Vincent. He surprised me at work. Which to you may just be Ahh Sweet… but for me I was so excited. I never get surprised at work and I had been wanting him to for some time! He brought me a sandwich and a blizzard; which was great because it was a beautiful day and I hadn’t had lunch yet (at 4:00). He waited for me to get off work and then we headed to the park where we kicked rocks, swung on the swings and threw sticks at ducks. It was tons of fun. Then he went back to the U for a meeting and I went home to watch Chicken Little and to catch up on MTVs The Gauntlet (they have the best games). So yeah that’s all you missed. Really it wasn’t that much. I’ve just been going wedding crazy. I want to get things done early. It’s not really all that stressful, I just want it get it done ASAP. Right now my nightmare is the guest list. I need addresses people! So yeah that’s all I got. Luv you all tons! Leave a comment to let me know you didn’t give up on me despite my weeklong absence!
