Inspiration is Hard to Come By

Right now I feel... so musically frustrated. Hopefully someone knows what I’m talking about. It’s like every song I listen to I feel like it’s nothing new. Like I’ve heard it all before. And I know… because I’m a big fan of Ecclesiastes that “there is nothing new under the sun”… but I do think that there is room for creativity.  I just find myself so bored when I listen to music. This has happened to me before (but only in the past year). In times like these I turn to my staples for musical inspiration. Music by Kelly Clarkson, Jamie Cullum, Fred Hammond, AnnaMaria Pasley and the Moulin Rouge and Rent albums always kinda lift me out of my musical funk. This time, however, it is not working. I don’t know if it is because I’m a little stressed (wedding on Saturday people!) or if it’s because I’m bored. I even got a new CD a few weeks ago, (Guns and Roses Greatest Hits) which is awesome, and yet I still don’t feel inspired. It’s like I turn on my radio and listen to my CDs and think, “is that it?” And I feel the same way when I simply listen to the radio… I guess I just need to find something that will get me out of it. Any suggestions? You know this “musical frustration” really is a difficult demon to over come. It’s as if every thing you hear or even sing (in my case) is so tired. Have you ever heard a song or learned a song in a music cl*** that just blew you away. You couldn’t stop singing it (HEY CHOIR does What Are You Waiting For… ring a bell)? Even stupid little songs like Foreigner’s “I Wanna Know What Love Is” can inspirer you… if you have been around me for the past month you know that it has inspired my goofy side… FULL FORCE. I just need to find some great music… I love Rob Thomas’ new album especially the title track “Something to Be” but it now is tired. I was thinking about buying Mariah Carey’s new album but that I know would get old quick (seeing that I sing a lot of R&B I am desperate for some diversity). If you have any suggestions throw them out there. They are much appreciated. Sorry this wasn’t funny… Linz
