I Have a Tendency to Make Myself Laugh | |
Touché Ms. Jay RayWell sorry I wasn’t able to give you all a weekend update yesterday. It was (dun dun dun) staple day. So as I was clicking away so were the hours… and I was left with no bloging time whatsoever. Never fear though faithful readers I am here and ready to give you the run down of my life… or at least my life from Friday-Tuesday. Here we go…
Friday: Well Friday was probably one of my busiest days in a while. Due to the fact that Vincent was still under the influence of drugs (go wisdom teeth) he couldn’t drive until later that evening… and due to the fact that my morethanaboyfriend is somewhat of an overachiever (and I mean that in the nicest was so don’t get all fired up). He booked himself to baby-sit a seriously active child the day after his surgery. Now David… though he is a bit out of control sometimes is a good kid and I knew that he wouldn’t give Vincent any trouble. That didn’t change the fact that I had to get up around 5:30 to pick up Vincent and take him to David’s house (don’t read that wrong either I’m not mad). After I dropped Vincent off I went home and did his laundry; because homeboy bled all over every sheet he had. After hours of laundry my little buddy Caleb came by and I was non-stop until the evening. We had a great time drawing shapes, going to Krispy Kreme and running errands. Finally the afternoon rolled around and we picked up his big sister Jessica at her school. Side Note to Old School ANCC Friends: It is so weird to go back to that building. I always want to explore but then when I go inside I just don’t feel like I use too, it’s not my home anymore. Someday I will explore… I want to see all the changes. Back to Friday: So then Jessica, Caleb and I set out to do errands and then pick up Vincent. On the way to David’s house Jess and I decide to sing “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid. To be honest I didn’t know that I could remember all of the words. I did, however, remember every lyric and when we were done singing Jessica sighed and dreamily said, “That was romantic”. Yup, that was a priceless moment right there. After all of that we pick up Vincent and went home. Shortly after that Pastor Lyn Felice came and picked up her kids and Vincent and my date began. We really didn’t do much. We watched this great late 80’s/early 90’s movie called The Last Dragon. It reminded me of the kind of movies my daddy use to rent for us to watch. It was a comedy/action/kung fu/romance/crazy movie. I loved it. Then I pretty much just went home.
Saturday: This day went a whole lot better than I thought it was going to. Our church had a monster of a staff meeting. It was suppose to go from 9am to 5pm. Thank God they decided to shorten it and we were out of there by 1. I decided that it would be fun to surprise Vincent and stop by Starbucks to say hi. I text messaged him and told him we were out early and set off to get a drink. As I was sitting in the drive thru I get a text message from him saying that he got off early too (because he couldn’t talk clearly… his cheeks were HUGE). The next thing I know I see him in my rear view mirror, he hops in my car, and we go to the mall to eat our already packed lunches… ghetto I know but any extra time with him I’m going to take advantage of. So after lunch and hanging out for a bit I went home to sleep.
Sunday: Sunday was really busy. I’m sure you are shocked! I get up early as usual and go to church. Mic check was rough because we had no soundman… at all… until service. Prayer and Christian education went well… well to be honest I was distracted a bit in Christian education because the kids choir was singing on mics… and yeah… I left early to watch. Church was good. Bishop started his series on “Tithes and Offerings”. It brings back memories of a crazy time in my life. The last time he preached that message God really moved in my life. Not really through the word at all but more just during that time. Every time he preaches about tithes and offerings I cant help to look back to what I was going through the last time he taught about it. Anyway… church was great and after church we had a cleaning party. I changed and got down on my hands and knees and cleaned every inch of the stage (with help of course). By the time I finally got to leave it looked good. Side Note to SIC Choir Members: Touch the piano and I’ll kill you! Back to Sunday: After cleaning I changed (again) and went to Vincent’s dorm where we hung out until it was time to pick up my mom and Wiley from the airport (he was looking at a college he wanted to go to). So we picked them up and drove them to Snohomish. After dropping them off I wanted a McFlurry from McDonalds (well I would have preferred a blizzard Dairy Queen but there wasn’t one close by). So we drive to McDonalds and I get my McFlurry. I asked for extra Oreos (cuz that’s how I roll) and I didn’t feel like they gave me enough. So Vincent, who was already acting crazy because of his pain pills, wanted to go in and ask for more. Now if you know me I really could careless about if it’s not exactly how I like it. Vincent is the opposite. He threatened to jump out of my moving vehicle if I didn’t stop and let him get me more Oreos. It was him saying, “I’m crazier than you” that made me stop the car and let him get me more. Cuz to be honest, especially at that point of the night, he was crazier than me. So he fixed my McFlurry and made a new friend (Diane the McDonalds Lady) at the same time. So I drove him home, hung out for a bit and then went home to sleep.
Monday: Was boring with a capital B. Nothing really happened of any significance. I pretty much just stapled my day away. I also made myself some steak and potatoes for dinner… I’m such a country girl at heart!
Tuesday: Which brings me to today. Not much has happened I woke up feeling really sick (swollen throat, pain in my ears and stuffy nose). God has really been using Vincent to show me that you really can pray sickness away. From the moment I woke up I was declaring that I was healed; and by the time I get to my choir rehearsal tonight I will be 100% (I am currently 95.984%). So I am really excited about that. Today has already been a great day and I can’t wait for what this week has in store for me! This week is our 2-year anniversary week at SIC. I can’t believe it’s only been 2-years (it feels like longer). We are having preachers from all over come and speak and I am so excited to get a word from God. For all of you who know the Hampton’s or have been affiliated with SIC in the past I would love to see you there at one of the services (Wed-Fri at 7:00pm and Sun at 10:30am). It would be great to see some old friends (and I know that it would bless the Hampton more than you would think)! Speaking of old friends I must take a moment to address a comment made by a friend of mine yesterday. Jay Ray reminded me (in the It’s Morphin Time post) of the days before I could drive and we would go to her house, dip Oreos in milk and talk about our future husbands. Those where the days… and I must admit that back then I was a tad bit romantic… however, sometimes the older you get the more cynical you become. Somewhere between 15/16 and 21 I grew a bit jaded. I decided that I didn’t want to be romantic. It’s easy to make fun of romance to mask the fact that you’ve never experienced it. I will, nevertheless, take this moment to acknowledge that there was a time in my life where I was romantic. It’s now just making it’s come back! Thanks for the reminder! Linz Leave a Comment ..
