I Have a Tendency to Make Myself Laugh | |
Oh CanadaOkay… well lets just say that I have so much to say about this past weekend. To be honest life has been so busy that I can’t really take a break. So hang on cuz this is definitely a roller coaster of a post.
Friday: Friday started off earlier than usual. Pastor Lyn-Felice dropped both Caleb and Jessica off extra early because she had to get into work early. I convinced them that they would have the most fun if we played the sleeping game for 15 minutes. They agreed and we all crawled into my bed and slept for a bit before taking Jessica to school. After we dropped her off Caleb and I came home where we proceeded to play kitty for (get this) 1-½ hours. Yeah… the child pretended to be a cat for way too long. After playing kitty for what seemed like eternity we hopped in the car and drove to Simply Pipers (my hair salon) so I could get my hair done. After literally 3 hours I emerged as a (gasp) brunette. Now don’t panic, it looks good, and it’s on the lighter shade of brown; but it’s brown non-the-less. Then I picked up Jess from school, came home and cooked dinner for Vincent and the children… hmmm… anyway… we ate dinner relaxed for about 10 minutes, drove to krispy kreme with the babies and then went off to church. Service was really good and Bishop’s word was dead on. God’s really been promoting Vincent and so he was running around all night serving Bishop. We didn’t leave the church until late and we didn’t really know what we wanted to do with our date night. So we just watched a movie and relaxed.
Saturday: Saturday was in essence my first day off in months. I didn’t really have anything to do (I took Metro Kidz off that day) until the evening. So all day I did laundry and tried to clean my room (which is difficult to do when you are doing laundry). So I pretty much just chilled and did laundry until Vincent picked me up. Yup Saturday I went to the Mary Mary concert (I got the tickets for Christmas from the Humphreys). Vincent came to pick me up a little later than planned because RA business kept him over the time they should have. So we barely made it to the concert on time (we met his sisters and carpooled with them to Tacoma). But as most church events go (at least COGIC events) everything was running late. So really we got there early… even though we were technically 10 minutes late. The concert was great. Anointed 2 Praise was one of the local opening acts. They were so anointed (no pun intended) their harmonies were tight and their arrangement was stellar. Some other group opened too but I wasn’t feeling them. Mary Mary was simply amazing. The number one thing I love about concerts is when you hear the artist live and you get to decided if you think they are better or worse than the CD. Mary Mary’s vocals are for real, they sounded exactly the same to their CDs and that’s a huge complement. Not only were their voices amazing, but also you could just tell that they really meant every word they sang. Those women love Jesus for real, and above all else that is what blessed me. After the concert we went to the Humphreys, had some pizza and went home.
Sunday: Sunday was of course the busiest day of the weekend for me. This Sunday was SIC’s 2 year anniversary so I went to the church early to decorate and create a party atmosphere. We did the best we could with our time and budget and the sanctuary looked pretty festive. The service was off the hook! We had kids dancing around with streamers, choir members blowing little party horns, and people wearing those cone hats you wear at children’s birthday parties! People were jumping, dancing and praising God. Worship was powerful too, especially after Pastor Julia came up. I love that woman, she is so anointed; but not only that she loves God and His people. I admire her so much. Anyway we had our praise and worship and then Bishop came up and wrapped up his series on tithes and offerings. It was a good word and after the giving he gave a powerful alter call. People came up for salvation and deliverance like always… but you could sense that there was something different in the atmosphere. Pastor Julia came up and asked anyone if they needed healing. People came up but she didn’t feel that everyone was down there yet. She persisted and finally called out a gentleman who has been coming for a while. This man who hadn’t walked in 2 years rolled his wheelchair down the aisle to the alter. Pastor Julia then read in Acts about the man who was lame from birth and Peter and John told him to get up and walk. Then this man began to rise (with the help of some men in the church) and began to use his legs in ways that he hadn’t been able to in years. God reminded me on Sunday that miracles do still happen. Everything about that service was powerful. God moved in a mighty way. Super Bowl: See the super bowl felt like a completely different day to me because Sunday morning was so power packed! But the super bowl did definitely had moments worth mentioning. The game… well this year I actually didn’t watch the game much. I know the reffs sucked, and that we really could have won if it was called differently; and I’d like to say that I cared… but I didn’t. Not really. Because the party was held at my parent’s house I had somewhat of a responsibility to be a decent hostess. So I spent part of the super bowl supervising the children in the hot tub… who ignored my rule of no splashing me. These kids didn’t know me from Adam so I don’t think they felt the need to obey as much as some of the kids I know would have… cuz those kids know that I would go a bit crazy on them. Anyway after watching the children Vincent challenged me to a game of Yatzee for a point. That’s right ladies and gentlemen a point. It’s been a while since we have competed for something on paper but we decided to go for it. I wasn’t really thrilled (I really didn’t feel like much of a winner that day in general) but I played. So yeah now the score is 5-5 because Vincent won. So while Seahawks fans across the world were mourning yesterday Vincent fans were ecstatic. Because he gave them a glimmer of hope that he could possibly win this thing. I say whatever… and while I know whatever’s whatever that is still my official response. Do I have a comeback point plan? No. Do I feel that I need one? No. To be honest I will probably just stumble on to a point anyway. So Vincent got to enjoy a bit of victory last night… and watch me pout… cuz yeah I’m a really bad loser. I’m working on it, but for the most part… I just can’t lose.
So that was the majority of my weekend. Aside from some crazy dreams and health issues last night that was about it. My morning thus far has been completely uneventful; and yet I am optimistic about it all. After all of that I will leave you with this to ponder: Today on my way to work I saw a couple driving in their car. I thought to myself, “They look like Canadians” and as they sped past me I saw their license plate… and they were. What’s that all about? Linz Leave a Comment ..
