I Have a Tendency to Make Myself Laugh

Okay, okay! I know you all have been waiting to hear about how my Valentine’s Date went. I am here to say, on the record, that it was fabulous! Oh yeah… I haven’t used that word in a while!

So Tuesday I get myself all dressed up (in record time mind you) and jet off to administer vocal tests to my beautiful choir members (I can call them beautiful because they are all women… except Nic… who didn’t get tested… so yeah). We had tests until 7:00 then we started another intense Pastor Julia driven rehearsal! I unfortunately forgot to turn off my phone so when Vincent sent me a text message (at 8:20) telling everything was ready and I could come over… lets just say the whole choir knew that it was time for me to go. So (thanks to Pastor Julia) I left early and ran out to my car to go meet him.

Side Note: Apparently I honestly did rush out! I only know this because Ms. Rillo herself saw me run… and I think she even tried to get my attention… but ladies and gentleman I was on a mission!

Back to Valentine’s Day: So I start to drive to the U and I get all nervous. Now to tell you the truth… I wasn’t really that nervous for our first date. I don’t know why, I’ve always just felt really comfortable with Vincent… but for some reason I was nervous for Valentine’s Day! Once I pulled up and saw him though everything was cool. All my nerves were gone and it was just like I was hanging out with my best friend. After a quick bathroom break (don’t you love the detail) we went up to his room to start our big date! Before he opened the door to reveal what he had been working on for hours and hours he tried to create some suspense by talking to me about Valentine’s day… saying that it was our first together as well as our first Valentine’s day with a real Valentine (of the opposite sex… I will never discount my beautiful dates from Valentine’s Day past… Jeni, Emily, Julie… Mel…). So after about 1.5 minutes of him just being a dork he slowly opens the door………………………………………….. .................................................................................................................

…………………………………………….. The room was beautifully decorated… well as beautifully as it could be considering he’s not that crafty. Which is why the whole thing was so special… he got way out of his comfort zone for this date! He had cut out hearts and roses from black paper (oh yeah he knows me so well) and had colored on the hearts with a gold pen. He also strung white Christmas lights and had black and gold streamers hanging all over the room. He covered the floor with assorted chocolates in gold wrapping. It was really beautiful. He really did do a great job. He even got a little table in his room so we wouldn’t have to eat at the desks (trust me I’m a messy girl and to have a table to eat over is divine)! Before he revealed what we were going to have for dessert I gave him my gift. I figured since he was working so hard to give me a good night; and everything he was doing was so far out of his comfort zone, that I would make him something as well. Because lets face it, I’m not the craftiest critter either (I don’t know why I said that… it just made me laugh). So for Vincent I made a little book, complete with self-drawn pictures, about how we got together and our relationship. I drew us as stick people (because that’s as far as my talent goes) and it was just beyond awesome… just ask him… he’ll tell you! So after we went over the book and laughed for a good 5 minutes we sat down to eat.

Yeah you've got some rad kinda chocolate man. I am impressed... but not surprised. That is a very Vincent-y kind of Valentine. Very very nice!!
