Recently I went to the senate this week to except an award. I was extremly surprised when the president of the state senate introduced a rev. to give the opening prayer. I am so, so sorry, but isnt there a little thing called seperation of church and state. I thought that we were suppose to not say these prayers in government, so that everyone is allowed to participate without having to say something that is against their believes. This is the same reason that i do not say the pledge of alligence. I believe that a person should be able to say the pledge without having to pledge alligence to something that they might or might not believe in. I respect everyone's believes, but we cannot only respect the Christian Jewish faith, we have to take into account the Muslims, Hinu's, Buddhist, Wiccans, or what ever a person believes. We cannot exclude these people. The founding fathers were not religous, i believe the only one that was, was Jefferson. Other than that, they were all pretty much agnostic. That is why they placed seperation of church and state, that and to be sepereate from england which they are the same entity. When i went to england though i specifically asked an M.P. how do they seperate the two. They people just have respect for everyone else, and do not bring God into arguements so as to not offend anyone. Why can't we do that?
